One Killed and Two Injured in Accident near Los Angeles Ave and County Dr
SATICOY, CA (March 9, 2018) – A woman died after suffering severe injuries in a multiple vehicle collision on the Highway 118 Bridge on Friday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 11:15 AM on the 118 freeway, near Los Angeles Avenue and County Drive. A Chrysler 300 that was traveling west, rear-ended a semi-truck in the westbound lanes.
The Chrysler swerved into oncoming traffic from the impact. 73-year-old Anita Montiel, was driving in the eastbound lanes of the highway at the time in a gray Volvo S60, when it was by the Chrysler. Montiel was pronounced dead at the scene, while two occupants inside of the Chrysler sustained moderate injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the semi-truck was unhurt in the collision.
Authorities closed off the roadway in both directions for several hours after the crash. An investigation on the incident is currently ongoing; no other information has been provided at this time.
