Crash on Mount Vernon Avenue Kills Angelina Marie Carmen Betz

 
Bakersfield, CA (May 22, 2020)– A report of multi-vehicle crash on Mount Vernon Avenue left Angelina Marie Carmen Betz dead early Thursday morning. As a result, police arrested Ashley Garness.
 
California Highway Patrol Officers responded to the incident that occurred on May 21 around 1:52 a.m.
 
According to the investigation, there were at least three vehicles involved in the series of crashes. The first vehicle was a Honda Civic that was heading northbound on Mt. Vernon Avenue.
 
The Honda reportedly ran a red light as it entered an intersection thus, it hit a westbound Nissan on Niles Street.
 
After that, the Honda went into the Mt. Vernon southbound lanes where it struck the third vehicle, a Volvo C70.

Aftermath of Fatal Incident

 
As a result, one female passenger, now identified as Angelina Marie Carmen Betz, sustained deadly injuries.
 
A further investigation showed that the woman was already wounded before the crash took place.
 
She died from the stab wounds she sustained from an earlier crime scene that occurred in the 1100 block of East 9th Street.
 
Kern County coroner’s office will be releasing the deceased woman’s identity soon.
 
Furthermore, the Homicide detectives took over the stabbing incident.
 
Police later arrested Ashley Garness, 22, for DUI. Ms. Garness was the driver of the Honda that ran the red light, resulting in the unidentified woman’s death.
 
Meanwhile, the CHP continues to investigate the collision on Mount Vernon Avenue.
