4 Poeple Injured in High-Speed Collision near Avenue R, Eduardo Murillo Duran Arrested
LITTLEROCK, CA (October 10, 2018) – On Wednesday afternoon, four people were injured in a crash on 95th Street East.
According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 1:45 PM, near Avenue R. Reports showed that the three-vehicle collision began during the pursuit of a reckless driving suspect.
A CHP officer traveling westbound on Palmdale Boulevard near 50th Street East spotted an eastbound BMW with paper license plates, that was passing on the right shoulder at a high rate of speed.
As the officer made an attempt to slow down the driver of the BMW, it accelerated and passed the patrol vehicle. As the pursuit continued, the BMW driver ran a posted stop sign at Avenue R and slammed into a 2017 Ford Mustang, driven by 18-year-old Angel Pelayo of Littlerock. The collision sent the Mustang careening into a 2013 Dodge Durango, driven by 39-year-old Alicia Soto of Littlerock, that was stopped facing northbound at the intersection.
Soto, her 2-year-old girl, and Pelayo sustained moderate injuries and were rushed to the Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment. The BMW driver, 27-year-old Eduardo Murillo Duran of Littlerock, suffered major injuries in the crash and was also taken to Antelope. His passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was not hospitalized.
Duran will be facing multiple charges including felony evading a peace officer, driving under the influence, child endangerment, and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. No further details have been disclosed to the public at this time.
