18-Year-Old DUI Driver Involved in Hit-and-Run Collision near D Street

PETALUMA, CA (August 8, 2018) – A DUI driver was arrested after a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night on 6th Street. The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Anessa Sablan of Petaluma.

Sablan was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of drinking and driving, following a hit-and-run collision that occurred around 9:53 PM on 6th Street near D Street.

According to police officials, Sablan ran a red light in her black 2000 Volkswagen Jetta and broadsided the passenger side of a Subaru. The Subaru flipped onto its roof while Sablan fled the scene. Petaluma Fire Department personnel responded to the crash site and extricated the Subaru’s occupant, a 34-year-old Petaluma man, from the car. The unidentified driver was treated on scene for pain.

Officers tracked down Sablan near Grant Elementary School. She was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, and arrested for DUI hit-and-run. No additional information has been released as the investigation continues.
