8 People Hurt in St Francois County Auto Accident on Route K near Saffell Road

ST FRANCOIS COUNTY, MO (September 8, 2024) – Saturday, Andrew Mercer and seven others sustained injuries in a disastrous three-vehicle crash on Route K.

The incident happened at around 3:20 p.m. on Route K near Saffell Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta collided with a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier while attempting to overtake another vehicle on a blind curve. Then, the force of the crash pushed the Chevrolet into the westbound lanes where it collided with a 2018 Dodge Challenger.

Moreover, authorities said that four occupants of the Volkswagen, ages 16 years old, a 17-year-old, and an infant, sustained minor injuries in the crash and were all transported to Parkland Health Center for treatment. Then, another 17-year-old was airlifted to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

Furthermore, responders transported the driver of the Dodge, identified as 18-year-old Dylan M. Fleetwood, and two passengers of the vehicle, 18-year-old Robert R. Simmons, and 19-year-old Evan M. Stockton, to a hospital with minor injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
