Two Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Coffin Road Exit
KENNEWICK, WA (March 18, 2018) – Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Interstate 82 near the Coffin Road exit, around 9:15 AM on Sunday.
According to the Washington State Patrol, 75-year-old James F Emfinger was driving on the I-82 in a Toyota Scion, when he made an improper lane change and struck a Subaru Forester that was parked on the shoulder.
Andrea Cordray, 25, of Ellensburg was in the Subaru at the time of the accident. Both drivers were injured and transported to the Trios Southridge Hospital for medical treatment. Cordray was treated and released, while Emfinger remains in serious condition. He reportedly sustained injuries to his head and leg, and is still undergoing treatment.
Troopers stated that the accident was caused by improper lane changing. Emfinger was cited for second-degree negligent driving. No other information has been released at this time.
