1 Dead, Ampelio Padilla Injured in Salida Car Accident on Hammett Road

 
SALIDA, CA (October 12, 2020) – On Friday afternoon, Ampelio Padilla suffered injuries in a fatal crash on Hammett Road in Salida.
 
The fatal car accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. when the male driver of a 2009 Ford SUV veered into the opposite lane.
 
He was traveling north on Hammett Road and north of Covert Road when he crashed into a Flory Shuttle Truck. The truck used for harvesting was driving in the opposite direction.
 
Furthermore, the initial investigation revealed that the Ford’s front crashed into the left front of the Flory.
 
As of this time, the identity of the deceased remains unknown. Meanwhile, the Flory driver was identified as 48-year-old Ampelio Padilla of Salida.
 
The authorities said that Padilla suffered moderate injuries. Responders transported him to Memorial Medical Center
 
Moreover, the authorities haven’t confirmed whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, they suspect that speed was a factor, the CHP revealed.
