Amber Jones Injured, Alfonso Gonzalez Gomez Arrested in Shelton DUI Crash

Shelton, WA (December 09, 2021) – On Tuesday, 25-year-old Amber Jones of Port Orchard sustained injures, while the officers arrested  32-year-old Alfonso Gonzalez Gomez of Shelton, in a DUI crash on State Route 102.

The accident took place after 5 p.m. north of Sanderson Field.

The Washington State Troopers said that Gomez was eastbound approaching State Route 101. Suddenly, he rear-ended Jones’ vehicle that was stopped, traveling in front of him.

The paramedics rushed Jones to Mason General with injuries.

Meanwhile, Gomez did not sustain injuries in the accident.

Moreover, officers said Gomez was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the crash. They are still investigating this incident.

Always pay attention whenever you are on the road. Do your best to avoid accidents. Also, make sure that you are following the correct driving speed.

DUI Crash Results in Injuries

Despite the additional safety features on newer vehicle models, crash rates in Washington continue to increase, rather than decrease.

As a matter of fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), two out of three motorists will be injured in a traffic accident during their life.

Sad but true, auto accidents are a major public health threat. They are a leading cause of death for individuals ages 5-64.

That is why it is valuable to know what to do if you get involved in a motor vehicle accident.

Meanwhile, here are some of the things that we can do to practice defensive driving and avoid accidents:

-First, always drive at a controllable speed.

-Then, it is also important not to assume you know the other driver’s intention.

– Also, be prepared to positively react to other drivers.

-This one, we should never neglect. Yield at intersections, even if you have right of way.

– Most importantly, stay focused on the road. Removing all distractions such as mobile phone use, unstrapped toddlers, can help us focus on the road.
