Amber Alvarez Dead, Phillip Jones Charged Following Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Old 215 Frontage Road Near Cottonwood Avenue

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (December 3, 2018) – A hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Nov. 26 on Old 215 Frontage Road near Cottonwood Avenue claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman.
 
Around 7:18 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the scene after responding to reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
 
Deputies arrived within minutes and located a victim with major injuries. Not long after, officials pronounced her dead at the scene. She was identified as 36-year-old Amber Alvarez, of Moreno Valley.
 
According to reports, she was struck by a driver who immediately fled, failing to provide her with aid or assistance. Evidence at the scene led police to 63-year-old Phillip Jeramaine Jones, of Moreno Valley. Jones was booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in bodily injury.
 
A temporary closure was called for Old 215 Frontage Road in both directions.
