One Dead and Three Injured when Two Tractor-Trailers Crash Head-On near Highway 395: Kulwinder Singh, Theresa Godoy, and Emeterio Godoy
BORON, CA (May 17, 2018) – A head-on collision between two tractor-trailers at the Kramer Junction, took the life of one person and injured three others, early Thursday morning. The deceased victim was identified as 25-year-old Amanpreet Singh of Fresno.
Around 3:30 AM, Singh was traveling eastbound in a 2015 white Volvo semi on Highway 58, just east of the intersection with Highway 395. For unknown reasons, he swerved into oncoming traffic, crashing head-on with a westbound 2018 Freightliner.
The second driver, 58-year-old Theresa Godoy of Tucson, and her passenger, 68-year-old Emeterio Godoy, suffered moderate injuries and were taken to the Barstow Community Hospital for treatment. Singh sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 32-year-old Kulwinder Singh of Yuba City, suffered major injuries and was airlifted to the Loma Linda University Medical Center. There is no update on the current condition of the injured victims.
One of the trailers ruptured due to the impact of the collision, spilling 30,000 pounds of jalapeno peppers onto the highway. Highway 58 was shut down in both directions in the area, and delays continued until it reopened around noon.
