Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 8 Freeway in Alpine

 
ALPINE, CA (January 19, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning in the mountain corridor of Alpine, CHP officials said.
 
The fatal incident happened around 5:04 a.m. on westbound 8 Freeway at Japatul Valley Road.
 
According to initial reports, the pedestrian was walking on the freeway when he was struck by a pickup truck. Responding emergency crews attempted life-saving measures to the severely injured victim, but unsuccessful.
 
The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced at the scene.
 
It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. This incident is still under investigation.
