2 Dead in Grant County Accident on Sand Dunes Road

 
GRANT COUNTY, WA (September 10, 2020) – Last Tuesday, Alexander Benefiel and Rick Peak died in an off-road crash on Sand Dunes Road.
 
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office revealed that 23-year-old Alexander Benefiel rode west. Meanwhile, 54-year-old Rick Peak headed east.
 
The two off-road-vehicle drivers traveled at a high rate of speed when they approached each other at a slight curve in the road. Thus, they crashed head-on and the impact ejected both drivers.
 
Several concerned passersby and Grant County Deputies administered CPR on both riders. Unfortunately, both of them were later declared dead at the scene.
 
The authorities confirmed that Alexander Benefiel and Rick Peak wore helmets during the crash.
 
At this time, it’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
