16-year-old boy Killed in Jurupa Valley Car Collision on Rubidoux Boulevard

 
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (March 9, 2020) – A 16-year-old boy died in a pickup truck and ATV collision on Rubidoux Boulevard on March 4.
 
According to the authorities, Alexander Bastida failed to yield at a red light. As a result, a pickup truck hit his ATV on Rubidoux Boulevard and Market Street.
 
At around 4:57 p.m., the authorities received reports of a traffic crash between an ATV rider and a pickup truck.
 
The deputies from the Jurupa Valley Station and other emergency personnel then responded at the scene, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Gutierrez said.
 
Upon the officials’ arrival, the deputies located the boy still in the road on Rubidoux Boulevard.
 
Alexander Bastida of Riverside suffered major injuries, and thus was declared dead at the scene at 5:10 p.m.
 
The incident also led members of the Jurupa Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team to come to the scene and handle the investigation.
 

The Initial Investigation on Bastida’s Death

 
Early reports revealed that Alexander Bastida rode an ATV east on Market Street prior to the deadly accident.
 
As he came near a stop sign on Rubidoux Boulevard, Bastida failed to stop and went into the intersection, where a northbound “heavy-duty pick-up truck” hit his ATV.
 
Furthermore, the truck driver stayed at the scene and helped with the investigation.
 
The authorities also shut down both directions of Rubidoux Boulevard as the deputies worked at the crash scene. The shut down lasted for multiple hours.
