Alex Herrera Struck and Killed by Two Vehicles on Highway 74

Menifee, CA (January 18, 2021) – On Saturday, 43-year-old Alex Herrera of Lake Elsinore was struck and killed by two vehicles on Highway 74.

The fatal crash took place at about 10:45 p.m. when a white truck struck him while traveling westbound, west of Briggs Road.

Apparently, the driver was unsure what he struck due to how dark it was during the accident.

Authorities said Herrera was struck while crossing the roadway.

The force of the crash threw him into the eastbound lanes of the highway. Unfortunately, he was struck again by another vehicle.

Police pronounced him dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the white truck’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Similarly, the second vehicle’s driver left his license plate number at the scene before taking off.

Later on, authorities detained and questioned the second vehicle’s driver who is registered in Hemet. Police determined that the driver may not have known he had struck a person.

Moreover, the authorities did not arrest anyone. Though, they continue to investigate the accident.

Finally, police said neither of the drivers was suspected of being intoxicated at the time of the accident.
