Alex Garza Dead in San Diego Accident on Merlin Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 30, 2020) – On Monday night, 21-year-old Alex Garza died in a vehicle and trolley crash on Merlin Drive in the Valencia Park area of San Diego.
The fatal trolley accident happened at about 11:45 p.m. on Merlin Drive and Imperial Avenue, east of Valencia Parkway.
San Diego police Officer John Buttle revealed that Garza drove a Toyota Prius.
As the San Diego resident traveled south on 60th Street to Imperial Avenue, he drove across the path of a trolley. As a result, the eastbound trolley struck him. Due to the crash, the vehicle was pushed around 100 feet down the tracks.
Meanwhile, the officers declared the Mr. Garza dead at the scene. Furthermore, they confirmed that the driver solely occupied the vehicle.
The fatal trolley crash on 60th Street remains under active investigation.
