Quincy, WA (April 20, 2025) – 29-year-old Alejandro Meza Mendez was seriously hurt after a horrific hit-and-run crash on SR 281.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the frightening incident happened near State Route 281 and Road 3-Northwest.

Reports say that late Thursday night, a high-speed rollover crash near Quincy left Mendez with serious injuries and prompted a search for the driver who fled the scene.

Authorities say that a westbound BMW, speeding through a sharp curve, lost control, struck a traffic sign, went airborne, and landed upside down in the middle of SR 281.

Emergency responders airlifted Mendez of Quincy to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

According to witnesses, the driver crawled from the wreck and fled on foot. Investigators have identified the suspect driver based on Meza’s statement but have not yet located them.

The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
