1 Killed in Lancaster Car Crash on Avenue J, Luis Contreras Arrested

 
LANCASTER, CA (October 22, 2020) – On Tuesday morning, Alejandro Lozano suffered injuries in a fatal accident on Avenue J.
 
The head-on crash occurred about 12:20 a.m. on Avenue J, east of 140th Street.
 
According to reports, a 21-year-old male driver of a 2014 Toyota Prius traveled west on Avenue J. However, the Prius drove across the opposing traffic lane.
 
It then crashed head-on with a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 pulling a 2020 PJ Trailer.
 
“As a result of this collision, the Toyota Prius caught fire which spread to the GMC Sierra,” the CHP revealed.
 
Responders pulled the driver from the Prius and administered CPR. Afterward, they took him to Antelope Valley Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity remains unreleased due to pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old truck driver, Luis Contreras Landa of Bakersfield, suffered moderate injuries. Responders transported him to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.
 
However, the police then arrested him, but the arrest “was not a factor in the cause of this collision,” CHP officials confirmed.

“Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this collision,” the CHP added.
