18-Year-Old Sacramento Man Fatally Injured in Two-Car Collision near McAllister Avenue, Avenesh Mal Arrested
SACRAMENTO, CA (September 14, 2018) – A man was killed Friday afternoon following a fiery crash near McAllister Avenue. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Alejandro Gonzalez-Santana, a resident of Sacramento.
According to officials with the Sacramento Police, the victim was driving along Freeport Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle, shortly after 4:00 PM.
Police officers responded to the scene and found Gonzalez-Santana’s vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, the victim was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced dead by responding officers. A GoFundMe page was created to assist his family with funeral expenses. Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle, identified as 32-year-old Avenesh Mal, was arrested in connection with the fatal wreck. He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for vehicular manslaughter. Authorities also believe that the suspect may have been street racing at the time of the incident.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
