Alejandra Canela, Claudia Ledesma and Katy Ledesma Injured in Car Crash on Avenue 7 and Road 24 [Madera, CA]

3 People Hospitalized after Madera Car Accident

MADERA, CA (January 29, 2019) – Three people suffered major and moderate injuries in a crash on Avenue 7 and Road 24 near Ripperdan on January 25.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. when 27-year-old Claudia Ledesma of Madera, and her daughter, 6-year-old Katy Ledesma, were traveling south on Road 24 in a Ford Escape.

The CHP revealed that Ledesma ran a stop sign at Avenue 7 and went into the path of a Toyota driven by 25-year-old Alejandra Arias Canela of Firebaugh, who was traveling west on Avenue 7 at a speed of about 60 mph.

The Ford was broadsided by the Toyota. Due to this, airbags in both cars were activated and the vehicles swerved off the southwest corner of the intersection into a power pole and concrete irrigation structure.

Ledesma and her daughter were taken away from the Ford by firefighters and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries. Meanwhile, Arias Canela was transported to Madera Community Hospital with moderate injuries.

Drugs or alcohol were ruled out as a factor in the crash. The incident led to the closure of Avenue 7 for multiple hours to make way for the investigation.
