Alberto Toscano of Newman Dies in Rear-End Crash on Eastin Road [Crows Landing, CA]

Crows Landing, CA (July 16, 2021) – Earlier today, 60-year-old Newman resident, Alberto Toscano, died in a rear-end crash on Eastin Road involving 24-year-old Cesar Bravo.

The accident took place minutes after 5:30 a.m., approximately half-mile south of Highway 33.

Toscano on a John Deere tractor was towing a sprayer tank south on Eastin Road when a a Chevrolet pickup rear-ended him.

As a result, Toscano’s tractor went off the west side of the road and overturned, while its trailer wrapped around a power pole. The pickup went into a field on the east side of the roadway.

Toscano was not wearing a seat belt at that time. He was thrown from the tractor and landed in the roadway.

Responding officers pronounced him dead at the scene.

On the other hand, Bravo, the Chevrolet driver, incurred minor injuries but refused treatment.

He told the officers that the sun was coming up and in his eyes which limited his visibility.

Investigating officers said drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be factors in this accident. However, they are investigating the pickup’s speed as well as whether Bravo was distracted at the time of crash.
