Person Dies in Cook Street DUI Collision

Palm Desert, CA (January 14, 2023) – On Friday, the authorities arrested Alberto Lopez, 26, of Coachella, in a Country Club Drive fatal collision.

The deadly collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection with Cook Street.

Investigating officers said Alberto Lopez was driving an eastbound burgundy Dodge Durango on Country Club Drive at a high rate of speed. As a result,  his vehicle rear-ended a stopped red Hyundai Elantra. 

The authorities immediately arrived and located the sole occupant of the Hyundai dead.

Moreover, officers arrested Lopez for showing signs of impairment.

A records check stated that he had prior convictions for driving under the influence.

Later on, officers booked Alberto Lopez on suspicion of murder into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio. He remains jailed on $1 million bail.
