Injuries Reported in Cathedral City Pedestrian Accident on Date Palm Drive
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (June 18, 2025) – Tuesday morning, a 68-year-old man suffered injuries in an alarming hit-and-run crash on Date Palm Drive.
The incident happened just before 3:30 a.m. on Date Palm Drive, south of Gerald Ford, the Cathedral City Police Department revealed.
Police say a 68-year-old man in a wheelchair was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a white van traveling southbound. The driver of the van fled the scene.
Seconds later, while the man was lying in the roadway, a second vehicle hit him. That driver remained at the scene and was questioned by authorities.
The pedestrian was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and remains in critical condition.
