Injuries Reported in Sorrento Valley Auto Accident on Mira Mesa Boulevard near Interstate 805

SORRENTO VALLEY, CA (May 30, 2023) – Sunday night, an alarming head-on crash on Mira Mesa Boulevard near Interstate 805 injured 3 people.

The incident happened at 8:53 p.m. in the 5300 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard near Interstate 805, said San Diego police Officer John Buttle.

According to reports, a 26-year-old woman driving her 2014 Ford Transit van traveled east in westbound lanes. Then, she crashed into the front of a westbound 2017 Honda Civic with a male and a female occupants.

After the crash, the 44-year-old woman in the passenger seat of the Civic sustained life-threatening injuries, including a punctured liver, stomach bleeding, and multiple rib fractures.

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old man driving the car sustained minor abrasions to his arms and pain in his right hip and back.

Also, the van driver suffered internal injuries. Then, officers arrested her on suspicion of felony DUI.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
