Injuries Reported in Travis County Traffic Crash on 5200 East SH 71

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX (February 18, 2025) – Monday afternoon, an alarming auto accident on 5200 East SH 71 injured 5 people.

The incident happened at about 12:25 p.m. in the 5200 block of East SH 71 westbound.

Emergency crews responded and located one person trapped in a vehicle, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. That is just west of Garfield.

Four ambulances and a STAR Flight helicopter responded to the scene, along with Travis County Fire Rescue and Austin Fire Department personnel.

One person was in critical condition, while four others sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

ATCEMS confirmed all patients were transported from the scene. Two district commanders also assisted in coordinating the emergency response.

Authorities warned drivers to expect delays near Richards Drive.
