Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Golf Cart Driver in Aguanga

 
AGUANGA, CA (November 28, 2018) – A 77-year-old man walking inside Rancho California RV park was fatally struck by a golf cart driver near Highway 79 and High Point Truck Trail Tuesday morning.
 
The deadly incident unfolded around 10:15 a.m. in the 45500 block of Highway 79, according to the California Highway Patrol.
 
It appears the 73-year-old driver of the golf cart was heading eastbound on Santa Fe North at speeds of about 10 MPH in the private RV community of Rancho California RV Resort. The 77-year-old pedestrian was walking in a westerly direction on Santa Fe North when he began to walk in a southerly direction in front of the golf cart’s pathway, witnesses reported.
 
The pedestrian was struck with the front end of the golf cart, knocking him onto the asphalt and causing him major trauma to his head.
 
Responding crews arrived and Riverside County Fire Department paramedics were summoned to airlift the victim to Inland Valley Hospital. The unidentified victim succumbed to his injuries around 2 p.m. despite life-saving efforts.
 
The cause and circumstances of this crash are still unclear, but authorities are investigating this case further.
