One Killed and Three Injured in Collision on Yakima Valley Highway
YAKIMA, WA (February 24, 2020) – 22-year-old Adam Mattheus Montano was killed on Valentine’s Day in a two-vehicle accident on Yakima Valley Highway.
The vehicles were described as a 2004 Pontiac Grand Pix and a 1999 Honda Accord, driven by Montano.
According to police, the eastbound Pontiac surpassed the 55 mph speed limit when it crossed over the center line before striking the Honda head-on.
Paramedics arrived on the 6700 block of the Highway around 7:00 p.m. Montano suffered life-threatening injuries before he was pronounced dead on scene.
Additionally, three others also suffered severe injuries. Medics transported them to Yakima Memorial hospital for further treatment.
Deputies later discovered that the Pontiac driver was inebriated at the time. The accident continues under investigation for vehicular homicide.
Montano’s mother, Sheri Tithin, describes his curious spirit as “always on the go,” and constantly “looking for a new plant or soil.”
