Fatal DUI Crash in Santa Rosa Claims One Life; Suspect Arrested

Santa Rosa, CA (March 19, 2025) – Santa Rosa police arrested 21-year-old Aaron Rodriguez Hernandez after a tragic crash on Farmers Lane.

According to Santa Rosa police, the fatal incident happened after 10 p.m. Monday evening, at the intersection with Montgomery Drive.

Reports say that two officers conducting a DUI investigation on 7th Street saw a speeding gray Nissan Maxima heading north on E Street.

One officer pursued the vehicle as it continued east on College Avenue. Despite attempts to keep up, the officer temporarily lost sight of the Nissan until spotting it traveling east on Montgomery Drive.

The Nissan entered the intersection of Montgomery Drive and Farmers Lane, crashing into a northbound silver Toyota Camry. The impact sent both vehicles onto the property of St. Eugene’s Cathedral.

Paramedics pronounced the Toyota’s driver, an adult male, dead at the scene. The Nissan’s driver, identified as Hernandez of Santa Rosa, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

After his release, authorities booked Rodriguez Hernandez into Sonoma County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, DUI drugs with injury, driving without a license, and probation violation.

The California Highway Patrol is leading the ongoing investigation and will release additional details as they become available. The Sonoma County Coroner will confirm the victim’s identity.
