Aaron Rattler of Garland Killed in Pursuit Crash on Highway 277 [Jones County, TX]

Jones County, TX (May 4, 2023) – On Wednesday, Aaron Rattler, of Garland, died, while three others were injured in a pursuit crash on Highway 277 near mile marker 273 on I-20

Rattler was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Jacobe Johnson.

A Texas DPS trooper attempted to pull Johnson’s vehicle, but instead of stopping, he evaded at high speeds over 100 miles per hour.

Johnson led authorities to Highway 277 where he struck two vehicles while trying to get around some spike strips.

The drivers of the vehicles struck by Johnson were transported to a hospital in unknown condition.

Similarly, Rattler and Johnson were also transported but Rattler later died from his injuries.

Officers said Johnson will be booked into the Jones County Jail for evading arrest or detention in a vehicle once released from the hospital. Additional charges will also be issued as the investigation progresses.
