16-Year-Old Arrested after Car Crashes into Gino’s Italian Restaurant in Salinas

 
Salinas, CA (November 20, 2020) -Thursday evening, a police pursuit ended with a car crashing into Gino’s Italian Restaurant on South Main Street.
 
Salinas Police and Emergency crews responded to the crash scene at 8:52 p.m on November 19.
 
Reportedly, police chased a silver Mercedes that ran a red light at Blanco.
 
However, the suspect continued to speed away and lasted about half a mile when the driver clipped a car and slammed into Gino’s outdoor dining area.
 
As a result, nine customers sustained minor to moderate injuries, and seven were then transported to the hospital. Fortunately, they are all expected to recover from their injuries fully.
 
Police then arrested the 16-year-old driver who they found in the fields behind the car wash just South of Ginos. The minor doesn’t have a driver’s license, and the vehicle was registered to his father.
 
Currently, he is facing multiple felony charges, and police say he isn’t cooperating with the investigation.
