9 Students Hospitalized after Alarming School Bus Crash on Rusk Street [Houston, TX]

No Serious Injuries in Houston Auto Accident on Rusk Street 

HOUSTON, TX (March 18, 2025) – Monday morning, an alarming school bus crash on Rusk Street sent 9 students to the hospital.

The incident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. when a red SUV rear-ended the Fort Bend ISD school bus on Rusk Street.

Houston police reported that after crashing his SUV, the driver exited the vehicle and assaulted a worker cutting grass nearby, then attacked another person further up the road.

The driver was detained by authorities.

The Houston Fire Department confirmed that 47 people, including adults and fifth graders, were on the school bus at the time of the crash.

Fort Bend ISD stated that while no severe injuries were reported, nine students were taken to Texas Children’s Hospital as a precaution.

A replacement bus was sent to return the students to campus.

“We want parents to know their kids are safe, and it was a minor accident,” said HFD Public Information Officer Sedrick Robinette.
