Woman Dead after Tracy Two-Vehicle Crash on Grant Line Road

TRACY, CA (August 22, 2019) – A Tracy woman died following a two-vehicle crash on Grant Line Road on Wednesday, August 21.

The crash happened at about 7 p.m., when the 83-year-old Prius driver moved west on Grant Line Road at around 45 miles per hour. The eastbound Mercedes, driven by a 48-year-old woman from Mountain House area, had stopped at the T-intersection. Then the Mercedes driver turned onto Great Valley Parkway at approximately 10 miles per hour.

After that, the Prius entered the intersection without stopping. The front of the Mercedes struck the front driver’s side of the Prius, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Joe Whitlock.

The Prius driver died at the scene. Emergency personnel rushed the Mercedes driver to the hospital with minor injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Whitlock said that the initial focus of the investigation will be determining why the Prius driver failed to stop.

The name of the deceased woman was not immediately available.
