TACOMA, WA (February 28, 2021) – Friday night an 81-year-old woman died in a crash on Interstate 5 and 84th Street South.
 
The incident triggered by a Yelm man occurred around 5:00 p.m. Troopers confirmed that an 81-year-old Tacoma woman succumbed to injuries at the scene.
 
According to reports, a 31-year-old Yelm man in a semi-trailer headed south on Interstate 5 and 84th Street South. Meanwhile, the Tacoma woman and another vehicle in front of her stopped in traffic
 
Afterward, the Yelm man hit the Tacoma woman’s car. Then, the woman’s car crashed into a 19-year-old Tacoma driver of a third vehicle.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t identified the gender of the 19-year-old Tacoma driver.
 
According to troopers, the Yelm man followed too close.
 
As a result, the crash blocked southbound Interstate 5 for more than five hours.
