1 Injured in Walnut Creek Accident on Treat Boulevard

WALNUT CREEK, CA (September 14, 2020) – On Thursday, a woman suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Treat Boulevard.

The CHP officers responded at about 8:50 a.m. on Treat Boulevard and Cherry Lane.

Upon their arrival, they located an injured 78-yea-old woman. Responders took her to an area hospital for treatment of a fractured hip and abrasions to her arm.

According to investigators, the woman used a crosswalk while crossing. However, a southbound pickup truck on Cherry Lane made a right turn onto westbound Treet Boulevard and hit her. As a result, the woman fell on the road.

Meanwhile, the authorities described the truck as a silver newer model with an extended cab. The police added that the driver probably may be using his cellphone during the crash.

The authorities are also searching for a person who drove behind the pickup and stopped to aid the woman back to the sidewalk. However, the said driver failed to leave personal information.

Due to limited information, the authorities urge anyone with information about the crash to contact the CHP’s Contra Costa office at 925-646-4980 and ask for Officer Matthew Heminez.

The thought of an accident can leave us all in a panic. If you’re ever involved in one, do your best to remain calm. Avoid the trouble and wait for authorities to arrive and tend to those injured.

Ways to Prevent an Accident

As roadways continue to clear and walking outside has increased in commonality, pedestrian accident statistics are soaring.

However, you can avoid being involved in an accident by avoiding dangerous habits. Also, make sure to always walk on the sidewalk (no jaywalking) and make eye contact with drivers. Furthermore, never assume the driver can see you.

If you’re a driver, know that pedestrians have the right of way at any crosswalk or intersection. You must yield and be prepared to stop.

“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.

Although no amount of compensation can make a difference to the damages you suffered, pursuing a legal case against the reckless driver in your accident can help your family immensely.
