Elderly Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car on Silverado Boulevard in Reno
RENO, NV (January 7, 2020) – A 78-year-old man was killed after being hit by a car Tuesday morning in downtown Reno, authorities said.
The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Silverada Boulevard, just north of Oddie Boulevard.
According to police, the pedestrian was crossing Silverada Boulevard outside of the crosswalk when a southbound vehicle struck him.
As a result, the man suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Authorities did not release his name pending notification of his family members.
The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
Impairment and/or speed are not considered factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
