Drivers Injured in State Route 525 Fatal Collision
Island County, WA (December 19, 2021) – On Saturday, a 77-year-old Everett woman suffered fatal injuries in a head-on crash on State Route 525.
The fatal crash happened at 1 p.m. at Campbell Road.
Investigators said a Ford Explorer driven by a 39-year-old woman came off the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry. She was driving erratically and struck a Mercedes head-on.
The Mercedes driver, a 78-year-old Everett man sustained critical injuries. Rescuers took him to Providence Hospital in Everett.
Unfortunately, the Mercedes’ passenger, a 77-year-old Everett woman, died at the scene. Troopers extricated her from the vehicle.
Moreover, the officers found the Explorer’s driver outside of her vehicle. It was not clear if she was thrown from the vehicle during the accident or escaped on her own. Her Explorer caught fire.
Rescuers rushed her to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
The officers are still investigating this crash, though they consider alcohol or drugs as factors in the head-on crash on State Route 525.
