Elderly North Highlands Man Dies after Collision with Multiple Cars near Sparrow Lane
YUBA COUNTY, CA (October 23, 2018) – A North Highlands man was killed Tuesday evening following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 70. The identity of the 70-year-old victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly before 8:00 PM near Sparrow Lane. The victim was heading south on the freeway when he drifted into the oncoming lane. There, his car collided with three other vehicles.
The man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, another driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Updates on their current medical conditions were not immediately available.
Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the fatal crash, which remains under investigation. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
