69-Year-Old Man Dies in Vehicle Collision on Interstate 40 [Barstow, CA]

Riverside Man Killed in Pickup Versus Tractor-Trailer Crash on Interstate 40

Barstow, CA (January 23, 2021) On Friday, a 69-year-old man from Riverside died in a fatal vehicle collision on Interstate 40.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Barstow Office, the crash happened at around 1 p.m. Interstate 40, east of Crucero Road.

Authorities say, that the 69-year-old was driving a pick-up truck westward the Interstate 40 at a high rate of speed.

Furthermore, the Riverside man failed to see a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer towing a tanker trailer, traveling at 55 MPH.

Consequently, the pickup collided with the backside of the tractor-trailer.

Due to the collision, the 2005 Chevrolet pickup was forced to the right dirt shoulder then it toppled.

The 69-year-old motorist did not wear his seatbelt and was thrown out of the vehicle and received grave injuries.

Meanwhile, the 44-year old man Simi Valley Man driving the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Moreover, the driver immediately stopped by the right-hand shoulder after the collision.

The CHP said that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this crash.
