1 Dead in San Bernardino Crash on Tippecanoe Avenue
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (November 11, 2020) – On Thursday morning, a 66-year-old man died in an accident on Tippecanoe Avenue.
The accident, involving a 66-year-old homeless man, occurred just before 5:45 a.m.
It happened near Tippecanoe Avenue and Davidson Street, the San Bernardino Police Department revealed.
According to reports, a northbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck hit a pedestrian.
The victim was walking east across Tippecanoe Avenue.
Moreover, the pedestrian was walking with another person in a dark area.
According to reports, 48-year-old Brian Phelps of Grand Terrace drove at moderate speed on the third lane of Tippecanoe.
Even so, the pedestrian walked into the path of his vehicle. Meanwhile, the pedestrian’s companion stopped to let the vehicle pass.
Afterward, Phelps contacted 911 and remained at the scene to wait for the authorities to arrive. Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that speed played a role in the crash.
Additionally, the authorities confirmed that Phelps was not intoxicated during the crash.
Meanwhile, the pedestrian’s sobriety was still unconfirmed.
The authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the pedestrian due to pending family notification.
At this time, the authorities continue to investigate the crash. Moreover, the authorities urged anyone with additional information to contact Detective Dan Acosta or Sgt. Jeff Harvey at 909-384-5792.
