Woman Killed, Leroy Wikander Hurt after Car Accident on Highway 138 and 60th Street [Lancaster, CA]

1 Dead and 1 Hospitalized after Lancaster Car Accident on Highway 138

 
LANCASTER, CA (November 28, 2019) – A 65-year-old woman died after a car accident on Highway 138 on November 25.
 
According to authorities, 73-year-old driver Leroy Wikander didn’t yield the right of way on Highway 138 and 60th Street about 4:55 p.m.
 
The CHP said that Leroy G. Wikander drove a northbound red 2011 Ford Focus on 60th Street West. At the same time, a silver 2000 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup traveled west on Highway 138. As Wikander stopped for the posted stop sign at Highway 138, he then drove at the intersection. He failed to yield the right of way to the westbound Dodge pickup truck.
 
Meanwhile, 56-year-old Saul B. Lozoya, the truck driver, stepped on the brakes but couldn’t stop on time. His pickup’s front hit the rear of the Ford Focus.
 
Responders took the Ford Focus’ 65-year-old female passenger to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she later succumbed to injuries. Her identity remains unreleased. Responders also took Wikander to Antelope Valley Hospital.
 
Moreover, Saul Lozoya didn’t suffer any injury in the crash.
 
“Alcohol and/or drugs is not a factor in this collision,” the CHP said.
