6 Hospitalized after Pursuit Ends in Crash near Puente Avenue

BALDWIN PARK, CA (May 17, 2019) – Six people suffered injuries following a police chase crash on Francisquito Avenue.

According to the West Covina Police Department, the pursuit started in West Covina, shortly after 1:00 AM. Officers attempted to pull over a driver at Fairgrove Avenue and Sandy Hook Avenue for several traffic violations.

The black Nissan Altima continued driving until police lost sight of the car near 605 Freeway. A Sheriff’s helicopter later spotted the fleeing vehicle in Baldwin Park. There, it collided with a northbound white Porsche Cayenne near Puente Avenue.

The impact of the collision sent the Altima into a wall, while the Porsche came to rest in the driveway of a 76 gas station. Scattered debris prompted road closure in the area.

As per reports, the Altima driver tried to flee the scene but his leg injuries did not get him far. Emergency responders rushed the Altima driver and two of his passengers to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. The driver remains in critical condition, while his passengers are expected to recover soon. A fourth passenger in the Altima and two women in the Porsche received treatment for minor injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Baldwin Park Police Traffic Accident Investigation Team at (626) 960-1955 as soon as possible.

Strictly follow the rules of the road to ensure everyone’s safety. When pulled over, slow down and wait for further instructions. Do not attempt to flee the scene and cooperate with the authorities.
