Bicyclist Hurt in Oakland Hit-And-Run on 84th Avenue and Holly Street
OAKLAND, CA (December 23, 2020) – Monday night, a 59-year-old bicyclist suffered injuries in an accident on 84th Avenue and Holly Street.
The Oakland bicycle accident occurred at about 6:15 p.m on 84th Avenue and Holly Street.
According to reports, a 2009 black Mercedes traveling north on 84th Avenue struck the bicyclist crossing south on Holly Street. Furthermore, the authorities noted that the Mercedes failed to yield at a stop sign.
Then, the Mercedes driver didn’t stop and continued driving until it crashed on 83rd Avenue and Olive Street. Afterward, the motorist escaped on foot.
Medical responders treated the bicycle rider at the scene. Eventually, they transported the rider to a hospital in very critical condition. Fortunately, by Tuesday afternoon, the bicyclist was listed in stable condition.
At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed any information about the suspect or whether they will do arrests.
Furthermore, it’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland offers reward money of up to $5,000 for information that will lead to the arrest of the hit-and-run driver.
