5-Year-Old Boy Killed after Attacked by Dog near Portland Street [ORO GRANDE, CA]

Family’s Pit Bull Attacks and Kills Child on Portland Street in Oro Grande

 
ORO GRANDE, CA (February 10, 2020) – A 5-year-old boy died after he was attacked by the family’s pit bull dog Monday afternoon in Oro Grande.
 
The attack happened around 2:57 p.m. in the 15100 block of Portland Street.
 
San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies responded after a family member called and said the dog was attacking the child and would not let him go.
 
The dog and the boy were eventually separated and life-saving measures were performed.
 
Unfortunately, the unidentified child did not survive and died at the scene.
 
Through the investigation, deputies learned the child was being supervised by an adult relative at the residence. The adult stepped out of the room, leaving the child alone with the pit bull. When he returned, the dog was attacking the child and would not release him. There were no other children present during the attack.
 
The dog was taken by San Bernardino County Animal Care and Control and put into quarantine.
 
Detectives from the Victor Valley sheriff’s station were investigating the death.
