5 Teenagers Injured in Car Collision on Highway 116 in Monte Rio

Monte Rio, California (March 12, 2020) –Five teens sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 116 near Austin Creek Road on March 10.

The crash occurred when the five girls onboard a white Jeep Wrangler headed west on Highway 116 at around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

In the investigation, authorities found that a Honda Accord made a left turn from Austin Creek Road.
This turn involved ignoring a stop sign, and thus the car collided with the westbound jeep.

Consequently, the incident caused non-life-threatening injuries to the girls.

However, emergency personnel airlifted one of the teens to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in an unknown condition.

The CHP reported that the Honda Accord driver was a Isaac Ugar, 18, of Santa Rosa.

Responders also took Ugar to the hospital for unspecified injuries. The other passenger in his vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, did not sustain any injuries.

Both vehicles sustained damage, with the the front of the Honda completely knocked off by the Jeep.
The accident remains under investigation.
