TACOMA, WA (September 5, 2018) – Five people were injured Wednesday morning in a pedestrian collision on South Tacoma Way.

Police and medics responded to the scene at the 7400 block of South Tacoma Way at around 10:10 AM, after receiving reports of a car hitting pedestrians in the area near South 74th Street. According to the investigation, the car was heading along S Tacoma when it slammed into the utility pole, shearing it off.

All three occupants inside of the vehicle were also rushed to the hospital, including one who was thrown from the car on impact. All five individuals were reported to be in stable condition and are expected to survive. No other details were immediately available about the crash victims.

Power was shut down temporarily in the area as crews worked to fix the power pole, and South Tacoma Way was closed in both directions during the investigation.
