Man Dies after Big Rig Slams into Back of His Vehicle on Highway 152 in Gilroy
GILROY, CA (September 22, 2019) – A 46-year-old Gilroy man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday evening on Highway 152, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. near Bloomfield Avenue.
The CHP says the man was driving his 1997 Toyota Tacoma east on Highway 152 and was about to turn into a private driveway when a big rig slammed into the back of his pickup truck.
The impact forced the Toyota into the westbound lane where it crashed into two vehicles.
As a result, the man driving the Toyota was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Six people in a Ford Explorer, including four children, suffered minor to major injuries. The CHP says they were from Boulder Creek.
The CHP says drugs/alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.
