San Jacinto T-Bone Crash Injures 4 People

SAN JACINTO, CA (April 8, 2019) – Four people, including two boys, were injured in a T-Bone crash in a San Jacinto intersection Thursday evening.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Cottonwood and South Lyon Avenue. Authorities reported a light-colored Mazda sedan and a white pickup truck that were involved.

To begin, emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 8:30 p.m. Dispatchers arrived after shortly after receiving reports of the collision. 911 callers reported multiple victims, including two juveniles and at least one driver who was trapped inside his wrecked vehicle.

Deputies determined that the driver of the pickup failed to stop at a stop sign. The pickup subsequently plowed broadside into the Mazda.

Due to the impact of the collision, three occupants inside the Mazda were injured. Furthermore, witnesses confirmed that the pickup truck driver also attempted to flee, but couldn’t make it far due to his injuries.

The Mazda driver was also found trapped inside the mangled sedan. Firefighters performed a cut-and-rescue operation to free him. Two adult males and two juvenile boys were eventually transported by ground ambulances to area hospitals for further treatment. They were said to be suffering from moderate injuries as a result of the impact.

During their investigation, deputies called for the temporary closure of Cottonwood Avenue at the intersection. Vehicle parts and debris were spread throughout the roadway, consequently blocking traffic. The roadway was ultimately reopened later that night.

It was not immediately known whether the driver who ran the stop sign and reportedly tried to flee was arrested, or was facing any charges related to the crash. No further information is currently available.
