Mesa, AZ (February 21, 2025) – Four people injured in a fiery crash on US 60.

Authorities cited a cement truck driver for failing to maintain control of his vehicle after he caused a seven-vehicle pileup on an East Valley freeway earlier this week.

On Friday morning, a spokesperson from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that officers issued the citation to the 42-year-old Arizona City man responsible for the crash.

The accident happened Tuesday morning on U.S. 60 near Val Vista Drive in Mesa, where first responders rescued Aymee Ruiz from the fiery wreckage. Later, she reunited with the officer and firefighter who saved her life.

Video footage of the crash shows the cement truck slamming into the back of Ruiz’s pickup truck, which then burst into flames. A motorcycle officer’s helmet camera captured the dramatic rescue.

DPS confirmed that the crash injured four people. A dash camera video, sent to Arizona’s Family, also recorded the moment of impact.
