Man From Modesto Killed, Ampelio Padilla Injured in Hammett Road Wrong-Way Crash

 
Istanislaus County, CA (October 10, 2020) – On Friday, a 36-year-old man from Modesto died, while Ampelio Padilla was injured in a wrong-way crash on Hammett Road.
 
The tragic crash took place at around 1:30 p.m. near Covert Road
 
The Modesto man was driving a Ford SUV. When he suddenly crashed into a Flory Shuttle Truk after his vehicle swerved into the southbound lane.
 
Furthermore, the California Highway Patrol said the front of the SUV struck part of the front end of the Flory.
 
The Flory driver, Ampelio Padilla, incurred moderate injuries. Rescuers took him to Memorial Medical Center.
 
The 36-year-old man from Modesto remained unidentified.
 
CHP said it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Though, they believe speed played a part in the incident.
