36-year-old Electric Scooter Rider Injured in Crash on Byron Street and Rosecrans Street [San Diego, CA]

1 Hurt in San Diego Electric Scooter Accident on Byron Street

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 15, 2020) – Sunday night, a 36-year-old electric scooter rider suffered injuries in a crash on Byron Street.
 
The incident occurred about 10:40 p.m. on Byron Street and Rosecrans Street, San Diego Police Officer John Buttle revealed.
 
The authorities found out that the intoxicated man rode an electric scooter westbound on Byron Street. However, as he failed to yield at a red light, he went into the path of a 20-year-old woman driving a southbound Volvo SUV.
 
Responders transported the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. According to officers, he suffered a brain bleed and multiple facial fractures.
 
Meanwhile, the Volvo driver stayed at the scene and helped with investigators.
 
The authorities ruled out intoxication for the Volvo driver. However, they confirmed that the scooter rider was under the influence of alcohol during the crash.
