Terrible 3-Vehicle Crash on Loop 20 Left 2 People Injured [Laredo, TX]

Carlos Arriaga and Mauro Castillo Hospitalized after Crash on Loop 20 in Laredo

Laredo, TX (December 24, 2023) – On Sunday, Carlos Arriaga and Mauro Castillo sustained injuries in a 3-vehicle crash on Loop 20.

Laredo Police reported the three-vehicle collision around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24, in the northbound lane of Loop 20. 

The collision involved three cars: a grey Dodge Charger, a grey GMC Sierra, and a black GMC Yukon. Preliminary reports suggest that the Dodge Charger, allegedly responsible for the accident, was traveling southbound on the northbound lanes, going in the wrong direction. 

This led to a head-on collision with the northbound Sierra and Yukon.

Although the drivers of the Sierra and Yukon did not need medical attention, two occupants in the Charger, identified as the driver Carlos Arriaga (28 years old) and passenger Mauro Castillo (43 years old), were critically injured and transported to the hospital. 

The LPD Crash Team and CAPERS are currently investigating the crash to determine why the Charger was traveling in the wrong direction and assess the conditions at the time of the collision.
